Harold Oehler, of Oehler Mediation, is a full-time Federal and Florida Circuit Civil mediator. He graduated law school with honors from the University of Florida where he received the Book Award in Negotiation.
During his career, Harold has sat in every seat in the mediation room. Prior to becoming a mediator, Harold served as a trial lawyer where he tried numerous cases to verdict including a successful 17-week jury trial which was the longest personal injury jury trial in Pinellas County history at the time.
For the next 21 years, Harold served as the General Counsel of a national automotive retailer where he managed all of the company’s litigation and insurance claims and represented the company at all mediations and trials across the country.
As a mediator, Harold currently serves on the Executive Committee of the ADR Section of the Florida Bar. He is immediate past Chair of the Mediation and Arbitration Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Harold is the primary author of the Florida Mediation Best Practices Handbook. He created the Handbook, and the popular Litigator Mediator Forums which have been held throughout the state, to provide trial lawyers and mediators a platform to collaboratively improve the mediation process. Recently, Harold emceed the first national Litigator Mediator Forum for the ABA. Last year, the Florida Bar’s ADR Section awarded Harold its “MVP Award” for Harold’s work to improve mediation across the State of Florida.
